Womb II 2017
This video without sound creates a kinetic sculpture. The Actress Barbara Barnes is wrapped in a piece of cloth sprayed with paint to create coloured folds. She explained her experience whilst inside the piece of being as a nice, comfortable, pleasurable with a feeling of safety and wellbeing like being a child again. Not at all threatening not claustrophobic.
Whilst moving around inside the piece, she uses subtle movements during her performance. This allows the folds within the cloth to constantly change and be redefined creating new folds. Within this one piece of cloth the folds keep moving and changing giving new and infinite definitions to the piece. Folds continuously flow and turn back on themselves mimicking like the folds of the soul. These folds draw the viewer into the piece in order to give the audience and the performer a common experience.
