The Spiral of Life Series 2003
For this series I worked using thick, wet, paint with my fingers. This allows the colours to mix with the predominately white paint on the canvas whilst wet. The inspiration for these colours comes from seeing early Renaissance fresco paintings on a recent visit to Florence. I have produced strong images from fragile colours and a tentative technique, conveying the emotions felt when strength emerges through vulnerability. Viewed as a group they create a story and the titles are captions like in a cartoon strip.
Each work is acrylic paint on canvas, 24 x 30 inches.
