Sign Paintings 2019 - 2020

My Sign Series of paintings asks the viewer to decide whether to follow the directions that I am showing them in order to interpret and view the work or make up their own mind.

Directions - contains words that are full of conflicting directions, that give the viewer a range of choices as to how they interpret the work, in partnership with myself.

I Am Here - is about me saying where I am and stating my position.

Where Are You? - is concerned with me trying to connect with my audience. It is my way of challenging the viewer to reveal themselves to me, through my work.

Why Not – is a tribute to the comedian Arnold Brown who is a long term friend and my comedy mentor. His catchphrase is why not.
