City of Dreams 2013

The images, produced on an iPad, give white spaces the appearance of light shining from behind the colours. It evokes the feelings of walking through city streets at night with a confusion of colours in the bright lights all around.

It’s about the seductiveness of the city at night, the adventure of walking the streets and discovering the clubs and bars behind the lights. Or are you going to be sensible and take a cab home because you have to get up for work in the morning? These images are not for the unadventurous!

The iPad drawings are printed on a fine art textured paper, providing weight to the colours while maintaining the luminosity of the light and the edginess of the city.

I then went on to reinterpret these images in acrylic paint on canvas
