Gutsy Pink 2025

This series of three paintings 30cm x 21cm all started with a pink ground with varying textures from thick

and heavy to light and thin. All have sand mixed with paint to diffuse the colour. Walker

then started to add the same colours - red, blue, green and yellow - to each of them in the

same order, using varying amounts on each painting.

These paintings were inspired by the idea of evoking feelings of the human guts being pink,

fleshy and guttural, and explore the possibility that gut instincts are primeval. Walker

questions if it is possible that the source of human spirituality is experienced through the

gut-brain axis.
